Our final farewell……

January 7th, 2012

Thursday 5th January 2012, we bid a final farewell to Denis.  As per his wishes, we cast his ashes off the reef at Hardwicke Bay, our favourite South Australian place for a summer holiday.  Denis and I first came to Hardwicke Bay in 1988 for our honeymoon (which we shared with my parents – we had no money for a flash trip away).  Thanks to the lovely Maddy for these amazing pictures…….

We gathered on the foreshore

A quick bubbly while waiting for everyone to arrive.

We ventured out to the reef.

A quick speech……

The first handful is cast…..

Kieran

There was plenty to go around and everyone was keen to share……cathy and Paul,

Denis’ sister Pat,

Ruby (niece),

CB,

Rads,

A final farewell…..

The beautiful wreath was made by my fabulous cousin MaryAnn Bunn.

Again the wind did the right thing and the wreath floated away……

….and out to sea…..

Another ‘bestie’, Tricia, was unable to attend so she sent along a bottle of scotch and we all toasted, ‘To Denis’….

Down the hatch!

Kieran shared his…..

Many were keen for another!

Back at the shack for ‘The Ashes’ game….this was the member’s stand….

Not sure if this is back stop or the hill!

Nearly everyone got a bat and/or bowl.

It’s great when you have a dead end next door…no traffic!

Not sure if Denis was the wickie or the umpire….

A picture perfect way to end an amazing day…RIP Denis

Kieran’s Karate Grading and Ryan’s Dance Night

December 17th, 2011

Nothing like travelling from 1 end of town to the other…..Kieran’s Karate grading (he’s now a brown belt!) was in Mt Barker.  Ryan end of year Dance concert was in Gawler…..I travelled 127km that day and it was well worth the effort!

As you can see it was hard work!

Teacher and grasshopper!

Ryan was in 4 dances for the night…..being 1 of only 2 boys in the group it was easy to pick him out!

Yes this one had a disco theme….Boogie Wonderland!

Ryan and Daniel were in their element for the last one….Space Jam!

Finally a 2011 update!

April 22nd, 2011

Sorry for the delay in getting anything up…..It’s not that we’ve been too busy…more likely too lazy.  So here we are on a drizzly Good Friday.  What better to do than update the family blog!  It all started in January……

P1000726

While on holiday at Hardwicke Bay, we went for a drive to Innes National Park.  A beautiful part of the world.

P1000737

The once town of Inneston had priorities…..You can still see the concrete pitch.

P1000761

Back home for the annual Tour Down Under.  If you look carefully you’ll see that one of the riders is Lance Armstrong!

P1000764

A fabulous day with our besties for our pre ‘Australia Day’ celebrations at Moana.  Most of the kids you can see do belong to our group.

P1000862

In March, Ryan and his mates went to Soundwave – an all day/night music festival.

P1000883

Ryan couldn’t get too close for Slash.

P1000929

…but was prepared to wait a couple of hours to be on the fence for Iron Maiden (headline band).

P1000913

Do you think they rang each other saying, “Let’s wear our black t shirt”.

FSYC Kansas concert

A fabulous concert to raise money for the boys who are travelling to Kansas City later this year.

NIS + JB

Ryan’s quartet Now In Stereo! (NIS) with their teacher/mentor Jonathan.

NIS & Alliance

NIS with australian Champion quartet, Alliance.

P1010076

The Fishies have been busy too with a couple of road trips to the mid north of SA.  The first was to Bundaleer for a fabulous festival.  Thank goodness we brought Cleo (Matt’s mum) ‘cos she knows about camping!

P1010100

The weather was a little inclement, but cleared after they sang “Blue Skies”.

A great shot. Thanks to Alex from DB Magazine.

P1010103

They even sleep in a line!

P1010110

The next day was busking in the forest. A beautiful setting and their voices sounded amazing.  You can see they drew quite a crowd.  We sold lots of CDs and other merchandise.

P1010115

Just last weekend (17th April) a trip to Rhynie for “A Taste of Good Things” put on by Baker’s Springs Winery.

Christmas in Athelstone

December 26th, 2010

Our tree…..there were even more presents first thing in the morning!

P1000689

The back yard looked a treat.  It was a warm day so the shelters did a fabulous job.  The table looked awesome!

P1000686

The kids were ready for lunch!

P1000692

A meal fit for royalty – well our family!

P1000706

Having fun together over Christmas lunch.

P1000707

Not sure what the joke was about…..certianly not from the bonbons as they were jokeless!  I will buy them from Woolies next time.  It’s not really Christmas dinner without those lame jokes!

P1000709

Merry Christmas!

December 24th, 2010

Here’s the boys’ chorus with a couple of Christmas Carols.

The video was taken only last Sunday (19th Dec) and Graham apologises for the quality of the picture (you don’t need to see it – only listen!)…..Enjoy!
